Diner Live - Chapter 9
May. 23rd, 2019 06:38 amLocation: Student Council Room (Night)
Eichi: *Cough*...
(Hrrmm… It’s really cold when the indoor heating is turned off… I didn’t turn it on because I thought the car coming to pick me up would arrive soon, but I guess I’ll do it.
If I destroyed my health while waiting for the car to pick me up and had to take an absence due to illness on the live show tomorrow, it’d be way too pitiful.)
Tomorrow is finally the showdown, but I wonder if Wataru’s Träumerei have finished their preparations.
Wataru: You’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find that out, Eichi ♪
Eichi: Uwah, you surprised me. Your timing is always perfect, Wataru. You appear when your name is called, just like a magician.
Wataru: You overestimate me. I can’t use magic. I just happened to walk by the student council room and noticed the lights were on, and when I looked inside, Eichi happened to be there.
Well, I mostly came here because I was sure you’d be here, Eichi…...☆
Eichi: By the way, you’re still wearing your practice outfit? Are you still in the middle of practice?
I shouldn’t be saying this as your showdown rival, but I think you shouldn’t overdo it the night before a live show?
Wataru: Aah, our practice is already over. Some other matter came up, so I was taking care of that while still in my practice clothes.
Eichi: So that means you’re perfectly prepared for tomorrow? Seems like I have awoken a sleeping lion, how sca~ry ♪
Wataru: There you go again, saying stuff like that even though we both know you love situations like this.
It’s only at times like this that your eyes sparkle like a child’s. Honestly, your bad taste is troubling.
Eichi: As one would expect of you, Wataru. You can see right through me.
Wataru: I can tell I worried about you for no reason~. I’m relieved to see you’re full of energy.
Eichi: For some reason or other I’ve been really enjoying myself. Even though this project was originally something I really had no enthusiasm for.
There’s no issue with my health either. I’m surrounded by overprotective people who were concerned for me after all.
Wataru: The Right-hand man also went to see how you were doing every once in a while.
Eichi: He sure did. And whenever he did, he’d just lecture me the whole time, to the point that I’ve gotten fed up with it.
Anyway, me aside, how is it going on your end, Wataru?
From where I’m standing it looks like you’re also enjoying yourself quite a bit? Well, you’re the type of person who can always find enjoyment in anything.
Wataru: Fufufu, I’m quite enjoying this state of affairs, yes. I’ve never really had the chance to do something with my classmates like this, you see.
Eichi: You’re right. Tsukinaga-kun said the same thing, but it sure is kind of embarrassing to be treated as “Tenshouin Eichi”. It’s not a bad feeling, though.
Wataru: Indeed. Not to be treated as a part of the Five Oddballs or fine is unusually interesting and fresh.
Well, consequently Right-hand-san and Knight-san have been getting super angry at me the whole time. Ahahahaha…..☆
But even these are just fragments of an easy battle lost, so let’s gather them up and treasure them fondly.
Eichi: Now that I finally got what I’ve always wished for, I’m at a bit of a loss what to do, though…
Wataru: Being at a loss is such a waste! Let’s enjoy this trance* for even just a moment! Let’s fully enjoy ourselves….☆
Eichi: Fufu. You said the same thing Tsukinaga-kun did.
But you’re right. A trance… A trance, huh.
It’s a showdown with the person I’ve yearned for… And unlike that time, a showdown under such enjoyable circumstances. It’s truly like a dream.
Could it be that this situation was also part of the origin of Träumerei’s name? If so, just how much of a foresight do you have, Wataru?
Wataru: Oh no, as if. I am no prophet after all. I just wanted to enjoy myself with everyone, that’s the extent of my feelings. Because it seemed like it’d be interesting ♪
Eichi: Don’t tell me all of this is nothing but a dream I’m seeing while I’m lying in bed? An “it-was-all-a-dream” ending is so out of fashion at this point.
Wataru: An “it-was-all-a-dream” ending, huh… That’d tie in as a punchline for sure. But it’d feel like a breach of manners.
In any case, be assured. This is reality. And I can’t let you be satisfied with just the current situation. After all, there’s something “even more interesting” waiting for you tomorrow….☆
Eichi: ….Wataru, are you scheming something? The way you just said that felt like it had the heaviest hidden meaning in it…?
Wataru: No~? I would never dream of it! Ah, look. It seems like the car that’s coming to pick you up has arrived, Eichi.
Eichi: ...I somehow feel like I’m being manipulated?
